ESPN Launches a Free 24/7 Channel With ESPN8 The Ocho

ESPN8 The Ocho became a huge hit from a joke in the movie Dodgeball to a real channel airing a few times a year on ESPN2. With ESPN8 The Ocho you will find strange and unique sporting events. Now, ESPN has announced that they are launching a free 24/7 version of ESPN8 The Ocho.

For now, this 24/7 feed of ESPN8 is streamingly on the ABC website and through the ABC app. So far no other partnerships to stream on ESPN8 through other services at this time.

Right now, when we are writing this story, ESPN is airing a Spikeball tournament and other upcoming shows, including a disc dog challenge, hot dog eating contests, and axe throwing, to name a few. ESPN is promoting this service as airing “seldom seen sports” on ESPN8.

This comes as Disney has quietly been building the ABC app to be a free streaming service with a growing number of free channels, including ABC News Live, 20/20, General Hospital Spotlight, Press Your Luck, and many other channels.

The ABC app also comes with a growing collection of free on-demand programs from ABC shows, both new and old.

This news comes as ESPN is building a stand-alone streaming service that will let you watch ESPN’s flagship networks for a monthly fee without cable TV. Right now that service is expected to launch in 2025 a date that is subject to change.
