For fans who have been eagerly awaiting the release of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, we have some great news. The film was originally scheduled to be released for streaming on HBO Max October 22, the day after it hit theaters, but now it’s getting a day-and-date release for the sci-fi film starring Timothée Chalamet. Dune will now be available on HBO Max starting at 3pm PT / 6pm ET on October 21, along with its theatrical release.

Dune has already seen success globally, earning $37.9 million during its first weekend opening in 14 markets outside the U.S. on September 17. The original novel by Denis Villeneuve was published in two parts, and there’s talk that a second script is already underway contingent on the success of this first film.

Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence, only those who can conquer their own fear will survive.
