Disney+ Will Release All Original Series Episodes on Wednesdays Now

Disney+ is changing up its original series release schedule and will start launching all episodes on Wednesdays instead of Fridays. Historically, Disney+ has reserved Fridays for its new series and weekly episode drops, but has decided to target the middle of the week instead. This move comes after the streamer quickly changed the launch date of its latest MCU series Loki from Friday, June 11 to Wednesday, June 9. The update was shared in a video from Loki himself, Tom Hiddleston, saying “Wednesdays are the new Fridays,” which seems to have been foreshadowing all Disney+ Originals and not just the Marvel Studios release.

The switch-up seems to have worked in favor of Disney+ since Loki went on to have the top-performing opening weekend of any other Marvel release on Disney+, as well as the series with the biggest opening weekend of Q2 this year so far across all streaming services.

This official new release schedule comes after Disney+ also recently announced pushing the premiere date of its new series Monsters at Work. The Monsters Inc. spin-off was originally set for Friday, July 2, but will now premiere on July 7 with new episodes released on Wednesdays.

Upcoming series affected by this change include:

Monsters at Work moves from July 2 to July 7
Turner & Hooch moves from July 16 to July 21
Behind the Attraction moves from July 16 to July 21
Chip ‘n’ Dale: Park Life moves from July 23 to July 28
Turning the Tables with Robin Roberts moves from July 30 to July 28
The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse Season 1B moves from July 30 to July 28
