During the Investor Day 2020 event, Disney announced an upcoming price hike that will affect monthly plans, annual plans, and the Disney bundle. On March 26, 2021, the monthly price of Disney+ will increase to $7.99/month (currently $6.99), the annual plan will increase to $79.99 per year (currently $69.99), and the price of the Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ bundle will increase to $13.99/month (currently $12.99).

With the price increase, Disney will be loading the streaming service with new content, including some movies originally intended to premiere in theaters. The company shared over 100 new projects throughout the Investor Day event, with the majority set to debut on Disney+.

“These price increases reflect an increase in the underlying value of the Disney Plus product offering,” Chief Financial Officer Christine McCarthy said during the event.

The price hike wasn’t unexpected. With HBO Max at $14.99/month and Netflix raising the price of its Standard plan to $14 per month, a $1 increase, and the Premium plan to $18 per month, a $2 increase, it seemed likely that Disney would follow.

Along with the price hike, Disney also announced a new bundle for Disney+, ESPN+, and ad-free Hulu for $18.99/month. While there was a workaround to get a discount for those who were subscribed to all three services previously, there was not an official bundle that included ad-free Hulu prior to this announcement.

With the price hikes going into effect in March 2021, Disney+ subscribers still have time to lock in an annual subscription with the current price of $69.99. Sign up here with the current pricing.
