Disney+ Will Add The Original Versions of The Simpson Episodes in 2020

Since launch, one of the main complaints about Disney+ has been the fact that Disney used the widescreen version of The Simpsons, not the original 4:3 version. This meant some parts of the image are cut off to make The Simpsons fit into a widescreen version. Now Disney has announced that they will release the original 4:3 version of The Simpsons on Disney+ in early 2020.

“We presented “The Simpsons” in 16:9 aspect ratio at launch in order to guarantee visual quality and consistency across all 30 seasons. Over time, Disney+ will roll out new features and additional viewing options. As part of this, in early 2020, Disney+ will make the first 19 seasons (and some episodes from Season 20) of “The Simpsons” available in their original 4:3 aspect ratio, giving subscribers a choice of how they prefer to view the popular series.” Disney said in a statement to the media.

Note: during season 20 the Simpsons started to be made in the 16:9 widescreen formate. So the last 10 seasons are already in their original formats.
