Disney+ ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ August Premiere is Delayed

The release of Disney+’s original series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has been pushed back and will not premier on the streaming service next month. With no official announcement about its delay, Disney+ quietly omitted the series from its Next on Disney+ list for August with no additional explanation.

The series suffered a production shut down this spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic which undoubtedly threw a wrench into deadlines. With cast and crews following mandated social distancing guidelines, it’s obvious they weren’t able to wrap up production in time for an August launch as scheduled. The film was mainly being shot in Atlanta and had a weeklong shooting abroad in Prague that was cut short.

The series is Disney+’s first dive into original Marvel content with WandaVision (starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany) on the calendar for a December 2020 premiere and Loki (starring Tom Hiddleston) scheduled for 2021. Before anyone gets too worried about the films appearing out of order and missing context, Disney+ did announce all Marvel shows would be delayed by the pandemic.
