Disney+ Pushes Premiere Date for ‘Monsters at Work’ Series

Disney+ is buying itself a few extra days by pushing the release date of its new series Monsters at Work. The Monsters Inc. spin-off was originally set for Friday, July 2, but will now premiere on July 7 with new episodes released on Wednesdays.

Disney+ is creating a small history of shuffling its Friday and Wednesday premiere dates. The streamer recently moved up the release of its MCU series Loki by a few days, moving it from the weekend to a mid-week premiere on Wednesday, June 9. The rearrangement didn’t seem to interfere with The God of Mischief’s series performance one bit. Loki‘s first episode became Disney+’s most-watched Marvel premiere, beating out The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

Now the Monster’s Inc prequel series will also call Wednesdays home. You can watch the newly released trailer below.

“”Monsters at Work” takes place the day after the Monsters, Incorporated power plant started harvesting the laughter of children to fuel the city of Monstropolis, thanks to Mike and Sulley’s discovery that laughter generates ten times more energy than screams. It follows the story of Tylor Tuskmon, an eager young monster who graduated top of his class at Monsters University and always dreamed of becoming a Scarer until he lands a job at Monsters, Incorporated, and discovers that scaring is out and laughter is in. After Tylor is temporarily reassigned to the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team (MIFT), he must work alongside a misfit bunch of mechanics while setting his sights on becoming a Jokester.
