Disney+ Paid Subscriber Count Surpasses 50 Million

Disney+ logoAfter successful launches outside of the US, Disney+ has just announced that it has surpassed 50 million paid subscribers globally.

“We’re truly humbled that Disney+ is resonating with millions around the globe, and believe this bodes well for our continued expansion throughout Western Europe and into Japan and all of Latin America later this year,” said Kevin Mayer, Chairman of Walt Disney Direct-to-Consumer & International. “Great storytelling inspires and uplifts, and we are in the fortunate position of being able to deliver a vast array of great entertainment rooted in joy and optimism on Disney+.”

In the past two weeks, Disney+ rolled out in eight Western European counties including the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Switzerland. Disney+ also launched in India, in conjunction with Hotstar, accounting for approximately 8 million of the 50 million total.

Launched in November 2019, Disney+ delivers some of the best Disney movies and series of all time — from nostalgic originals like Snow White and the Seven Dwarves to modern animated classics such as The Mandalorian and Frozen. Subscribers also have access to Star Wars, Marvel, National Geographic, and Pixar movies and series.
