Disney said that deal was to come to an end and they plan to push ahead with an aggressive plan to offer a wide range of direct-to-consumer services. As of today, we don’t know exactly what these direct-to-consumer services are but it likely has to do with their newly acquired majority stake in BAMTech LLC, which will provide the backbone behind these new streaming services.
The new Disney streaming service will become the exclusive home for subscription streaming of Disney movies including all new live action and animated movies from Disney and Pixar, beginning with the 2019 theatrical slate, which includes Toy Story 4, and the sequel to Frozen.
Right now Disney has not said what their plans are for Disney shows on Netflix or the older classic Disney movies Hulu has rights to. The good news for Netflix subscribers is the fact that you can still watch Disney movies on Netflix through 2018.
