Disney Is Making it Harder for Thieves to Steal Your Account

Depressed mature man holding paper and looking at it while sitting on the couch at homeWhen Disney+ launched the selling of stolen account information became a huge business. Thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of accounts were stolen and sold online. The only way you may have known is when you saw new profiles appear in your Disney+ account.

To help address this issue of hackers finding your username and password, Disney started to roll out an email alert to notify subscribers when anyone logs in to your account. In this email, you will find out what device was used and the location based on IP.

Currently, Disney is only rolling out this feature to Hulu and ESPN, but Disney+ as best we can tell does not include this new email notification.

Hopefully, Disney+ will add this notification because right now it is one of the most stolen services out there.

How do hackers get your username and password? Typically, it happens when subscribers use the same username and password on multiple services and websites. When one of them gets hacked, the hackers use that email and password on multiple services. If they find one that works, they turn around and sell it. So, make sure to use different passwords on different services especially paid services.

Never use the same password that you use for important services like banking on other accounts.
