Disney+ is Ending Support For Some Older Roku Players

Do you have an older Roku player, including the Roku 4? Well, you may soon lose access to the Disney+ Roku channel.

According to a message posted on Roku 4 on May 30th, 2023, Disney+ will be ending support for older Roku players, including the Roku 4. This means if you want to keep watching Disney+ and you own a Roku 4, you will need to upgrade to a newer Roku player.

This news comes as Roku has announced that it is ending support for the Roku 4, which was Roku’s first 4K streaming player it ever made. The Roku 4 was later replaced by the Roku Ultra, which is now the top-of-the-line Roku Player.

Disney has not said why it is ending support for the Roku 4, but it likely has to do with the fact that the Roku 4 is not getting the newest Roku OS 12 update that is now rolling out.

Disney has confirmed to Cord Cutters News that only the Roku 4 is losing support for the Disney+ channel.

The Roku 4 was released back in October 2015 and has been supported for over seven years now since Roku first released it. Now it seems Roku has decided it is not able to handle the newest features it is rolling out. Most apps will keep working, but they will not be updated, and like with Disney+, you run the risk that support for the Roku 4 may be discontinued.
