Disney+ & Hulu Officially Merge Apps Today Ending Its Beta Test

Today, Disney announced that Hulu and Disney+ will officially merge apps. Now you will officially find Hulu built into the Disney+ app, ending its months-long beta test.

“The collective power of Disney+ and Hulu – outstanding originals from the most powerful brands and studios in the industry, libraries filled with decades of iconic favorites, and industry-leading advertising and technological capabilities – is transformative,” said Joe Earley, President of Direct-to-Consumer, Disney Entertainment. “Today’s official launch of Hulu on Disney+ gives viewers even more opportunities to easily discover and enjoy thousands of titles all in one place, underscoring the extraordinary value of the Disney Bundle.”

With this update, little is changing upfront other than the removal of the beta logo from the Disney+ app. However, this does mark the start of a new marketing trend promoting Hulu and Disney+ as a bundle.

In May 2023, Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, announced plans to merge the Hulu and Disney+ apps into a single app. Each platform will be its own service within the single app. ESPN+ has long been included in Hulu bundles, with all three options included in one of Hulu’s bundles since 2020. Iger is striving to increase revenue by seizing a unique advertising opportunity through the development of a single app hosting all three services.

Now it has been confirmed that both apps Hulu and Disney+ will remain but the on-demand content from Hulu is also avialbie in Disney+ now if you subscribe to both. Disney also confirmed that Hulu + Live TV will remain its own independent app and only the on-demand content will merge into Disney+.

You can get both Disney+ and Hulu for $9.99 a month with the bundled version.
