Production has begun on Disney’s live-action film “Peter Pan & Wendy” with film crews kicking things off on location in Vancouver. The film will be based on J. M. Barrie’s novel by the same name and inspired by the original Disney animated classic from 1953. It will premiere on Disney+ in 2022.

Vancouver seems like the perfect spot to shoot Neverland, with lush vegetation and magical forests for the Lost Boys to make their home in tree trunks and coves perfect for a pirate ship or mermaids to hide.

The film has some familiar faces starring in it with Jude Law as Captain Hook and comedian Jim Gaffigan as his bumbling sidekick Smee. Ever Anderson (“Black Widow”) will star as Wendy alongside Alexander Molony (“The Reluctant Landlord”) as Peter Pan, and Yara Shahidi from “Grown-ish” will be the flittering fairy Tinkerbell.

“Peter Pan has long been one of my favorite stories, partially because I’ve always resisted growing up, but also because of the heart, adventure and imagination that makes J.M. Barrie’s original tale so evergreen,” says David Lowery. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to redefine his iconic characters for a new generation – and even more excited that I get to do so with such an exceptional cast and crew.”
