Disney Concert Stream Moving Forward with New Date After Musicians Union Changes Stance

Disney Broadway

Update: Added new stream date: April 17th at 7pm ET

A rebroadcast of a Disney on Broadway is back on track after a musicians union agreed to streaming rights today. The concert was meant to stream on April 13th, but Broadway Cares, the charity group organizing the event, announced a cancellation over the weekend. At the time, the group cited a streaming rights disagreement with the American Federation of Musicians.

However, the AFM released a statement on Monday saying it’s now on board.

“We stand in solidarity with our fellow entertainment workers in Actors Equity and SAG-AFTRA. We believe all musicans should be fairly copensated for their work all of the time, but we also believe that we much do everything possible to support entertainment workers hurt by the coronoavirus pandemic. We fully support the union musicians who have graciously offered to forgo all required payments to allow this charity event to move forward,” the group said in a released statement.

Broadway Cares announced the stream has been rescheduled for April 17th at 7pm ET and you can watch at the organization’s website or on their YouTube page.
