Disney+ App Rolls Out Content Sharing Feature

Disney+ has added a new feature to the platform’s app that allows you to share content over social media and messaging. The app feature lets you share links to your favorite shows to social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram.

You can also send direct links via instant messaging apps. The messages pop up with a default message that users can overwrite or edit. Users who click on the link will be taken directly to the title on Disney+ and can start watching if they’re a current subscriber.

This is the latest new feature to pop up on the Disney+ app. Last month, the streamer introduced a new GroupWatch feature that allows allowing users to stream movies and TV episodes from the Disney+ library with groups of up to seven people from different devices.

The new sharing option is a way for Disney+ to receive free, organic advertisement and marketing by personal recommendations and word of mouth, adding to its already vast subscriber base. At last year’s Investor Day, Disney projected its subscriber count would reach 60 million to 90 million range by 2024. Now, analysts predict the streamer’s subscribers will number closer to a whopping 155 million in the next 4 years. The streaming service already reached 60.5 million subscribers at its latest count in August.
