Disney+ Announced ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2 Release Date

After a long wait and much speculation, Disney+ officially announced the release date for season 2 of The Mandalorian. The series will return to the platform on October 30th for the second season. Just like season 1, new episodes of the show will be released weekly on Fridays.

Not too many details have been shared about the upcoming season, and no official trailer has been released yet.

Deadline reported that “insiders have hinted that several established characters from the Skywalker Saga’s feature films mythology will make appearances.” Rumor has it we’ll get to see Temuera Morrison return to the franchise, this time as Boba Fett. The New Zealand actor appeared in the prequel movies as Jango Fett, Boba’s father. It’s reportedly not a huge role, and it shouldn’t be too big a stretch for Morrison, who’s portrayed both characters over the years in several video games. His voice was also added to the 2004 edition of The Empire Strikes Back, replacing Jason Wingreen’s original voicework.

Also rumored to be joining the cast are Michael Biehn, Timothy Olyphant as Cobb Vanth, Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze, Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano.

Disney+ racked up 19 Emmy nominations overall this year, with The Mandalorian pulling in 15 of them, more than any other Disney show this year, including a nomination in the drama series category.
