Dish Wants to Offer “Disruptive” Wireless Phone Pricing & Offer Bundles With its Other Products

Women Using LaptopToday during Dish’s 2nd quarter 2019 earnings call Dish opened up a bit about its plans to offer wireless phone service. According to Dish, they plan to have “disruptive” pricing on its wireless phone service once it owns Boost Mobile. Dish also said they are looking into possible bundles for its new wireless phone service and other products.

Dish stopped short of saying what bundles they could offer but the two that jump out are likely bundles with Dish and Sling TV. This would let Dish leverage its current subscriber base to promote its wireless phone service.

Dish once again push the plans to try and have its first 5G network live by the end of 2020. This is all apart of Dish’s $10 billion plan to roll out 5G internet across the United States.

In an interview with Bloomberg back in December 2018 DISH’s Chairman, Charlie Ergen says 5G will be their “Manhattan Project.”

“I grew up in this little town called Oak Ridge, Tennessee, which was famous for being part of the Manhattan Project,” Ergen said. “It took them four years to design and build the atomic bomb. And that’s about how long it’s going to take us to design and build the greatest 5G network. And we are in the first year of building that today.”

“Every time an employee logs in to their computer, they’ll see this countdown,” Ergen, said. “This is Management 101 — it’s how you get disparate people to focus in one direction.”
