couple of people texting on phoneToday it is being reported that Dish and T-Mobile have reached a deal that will make Dish the 4th largest wireless carrier in the United States. As part of this deal, Dish will buy assets from T-Mobile including Boost Mobile to help it launch a Dish wireless phone service according to Bloomberg. This deal will happen after T-Mobile and Sprint merge as part of a bigger deal with the Department of Justice.

It was recently reported that the Department of Justice wants a 4th major phone company if it would approve a T-Mobile Sprint merger. An Amazon run phone service could be that 4th competitor the Department of Justice is looking for. According to reports, the Department of Justice is close to announcing a deal to approve the T-Mobile and Sprint merger. It had been reported that Amazon was looking to buy Boost Mobile but in recent weeks this rumor has died down. Now it looks like Dish has won the battle to buy Boost Mobile.

According to Bloomberg Dish will pay $1.5 billion for Boost Mobile and $3.5 billion more for spectrum from T-Mobile. This will make Dish the 4th largest wireless carrier in the United States as Dish already owns a large amount of spectrum that it had been planning to use for a 5G network.
