Dish Customers Lose Meredith Owned ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC Stations

Recently all the news has been focused on AT&T’s DIRECTV, DIRECTV NOW, and U-verse TV losing locals. Now Dish has lost Meredith local TV stations. Dish claims that Meredith rejected its offer for an extension that would have kept the Meredith channels on Dish as talks continue. Dish is offering free antennas to customers in the markets who have lost their local stations so they can watch locals for free over the air.

Dish says they are pushing back against local TV stations asking for more money by pointing out that local TV stations cost customers $12 a month. Dish’s Sling TV President has also warned that locals could soon cost as much as $16 a month if the current trend continues.

Here are the markets that lost locals today:

• Mobile
• Phoenix
• Hartford
• Atlanta
• Springfield, Massachusetts
• Bay City – Flint – Saginaw
• Kansas City
• St. Louis
• Henderson – Las Vegas
• Bend
• Greenville
• Nashville

As subscribers numbers continue to drop but local TV stations ask for more money you should expect these kinds of blackouts to become more common.
