Discovery+ & HBO Max Merger is Happening Here is What You Should Expect From Tomorrow’s Big Announcement

Tomorrow 12th of April 2023, we will finally learn everything there is about the newly merged Discovery+ and HBO Max service that will reportedly be called Max. So what should we expect from tomorrow’s announcement with this newly merged Discovery+ and HBO Max service? Today we will breakdown everything you should expect to be announced tomorrow.

What will the name of the new service be called?

According to reports, the new service will be called MAX. Warner Bros. Discovery is reportedly concerned that HBO name scares away some potential subscribers.

It is being reported that Warner Bros. Discovery wants to help protect the HBO name by not stretching it to far with all of this additional content. That would explain the reported change to just MAX.

When will the newly merged service launch?

The new combined service will reportedly launch in the Spring or Summer of 2023. The official launch date will be announced on April 12th, 2023.

What will the price be?

We have now confirmed, thanks to a report from Bloomberg, that the ad-supported plan will cost $9.99 a month. You will also be able to get a $ 15.99-a-month plan that will be ad-free.

This means if you are currently an HBO Max fan you will pay the same price you are now but with Discovery+ content added.

There will also be a new $20-a-month option offering better video quality and other features. At this time we don’t know exactly everything that will be included with this new, more expensive option.

Any other details we know about the new service?

Right now, that’s all we can firmly say, but it has been reported that the new service will be called just Max. For now, we will need to wait and see what happens.

So what will this mean for Discovery+ as a stand-alone service?

Later this year, Discovery+ and HBO Max will merge into a new combined service. Many fans of Discovery+ have been worried that this will mean they will need to pay a much higher price for their content. According to The Wall Street Journal, Discovery+ will remain as a standalone cheaper option compared to the newly merged service.

So no need to worry about having to upgrade to HBO Max if you a Discovery+ subscriber. You will be able to keep your current Discovery+ only package if that is what you want.
