As Major League Baseball kicks off its 2025 season today, March 27, DIRECTV is stepping up to the plate with a slew of updates that solidify its position as the leading provider of local baseball coverage among major providers. The company announced a series of enhancements to its Genre Packs, adding new streaming services and channels at no extra cost, while also expanding its MyHome Team Mini-Pack to include more regional sports networks (RSNs) just in time for Opening Day. These developments, detailed in a statement from DIRECTV’s Tom T., underscore the company’s focus on offering unmatched choice, flexibility, and value to its customers.
Starting today, DIRECTV is adding Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max Basic with Ads to its MyEntertainment Genre Pack, a move that delivers significant value for subscribers. The MyEntertainment pack, priced at $34.99 per month, already includes over 40 entertainment channels plus the Disney+ and Hulu Basic Bundle. Adding Max Basic with Ads—which alone retails for $9.99 monthly—means subscribers get all three streaming services for less than the $20.98 they’d pay if purchased separately. This addition follows recent expansions to the Genre Packs, including seven more local ABC affiliates to MySports, ION and Adult Swim to MyEntertainment, and Bloomberg News to MyNews, all aimed at keeping consumer costs down while broadening content options.

Tomorrow, DIRECTV will further enhance its sports offerings by adding several new RSNs to its MyHome Team Mini-Pack, a $19.99 monthly add-on for MySports subscribers. The new channels include Spectrum SportsNet LA (home of the World Series champion LA Dodgers), Spectrum SportsNet (featuring the NBA’s LA Lakers), and five MLB-owned team channels: Cleveland Guardians, Minnesota Twins, Colorado Rockies, Arizona Diamondbacks, and San Diego Padres. This expansion brings MyHome Team’s portfolio to 22 RSNs or team-specific channels, covering 18 MLB teams, 16 NBA teams, and 10 NHL franchises. DIRECTV is also rolling out the new Guardians and Twins channels to its satellite and U-verse customers in those teams’ five-state regions, ensuring fans in those areas don’t miss a pitch.
Looking ahead, DIRECTV has secured agreements to add CSPAN and CSPAN2 to its MyNews Genre Pack, and Ovation, a fine arts and culture channel, to MyEntertainment by mid-next week. These additions will also come at no extra cost to subscribers. Peter Kiley, vice president at CSPAN, praised DIRECTV’s commitment, stating, “DirecTV has been a strong and steadfast supporter of C-SPAN… We appreciate their longstanding commitment to our public service and are pleased to collaborate with them to deliver innovative packaging opportunities that serve consumers of news and information with C-SPAN’s unique brand of unbiased and trusted political coverage.”
With Opening Day featuring matchups like the Guardians vs. Royals and Padres vs. Braves, DIRECTV’s expanded MyHome Team ensures fans can catch their local teams live, whether they’re streaming or using satellite. The company’s focus on local sports—covering 28 of 29 American MLB teams through its Choice package and MyHome Team add-on—sets it apart in a competitive market, especially as it continues to innovate with satellite-free streaming options.
