DIRECTV STREAM Adds New Channels to Its Cheaper TV Packages Starting at $34.99

DIRECTV STREAM has just supercharged its MyEntertainment package with the addition of ION TV to its already robust lineup of over 40 channels. DIRECTV has also confirmed to Cord Cutters News that it has added Bloomberg TV to its MyNews package for $39.99 priced. Priced at $34.99 per month, MyEntertainment package, a genre-specific streaming bundle—tailored for movie and TV enthusiasts—now offers even more variety, blending live TV with premium streaming services at a fraction of the cost of traditional cable. The inclusion of ION TV, known for its mix of crime dramas, mysteries, and popular reruns, enhances an offering that’s quickly becoming a go-to for drama, reality, and lifestyle fans seeking curated content without the bloat of oversized packages.

DIRECTV STREAM has just enhanced its MyNews package by adding Bloomberg TV to its lineup, bolstering an already robust offering for news enthusiasts at $39.99 per month. This addition joins a formidable roster that includes heavyweights like Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, and select local TV channels, delivering a comprehensive mix of national and regional coverage. Launched in late February 2025 as part of DIRECTV’s genre-specific streaming bundles, the MyNews package caters to viewers seeking in-depth reporting and analysis without the clutter of broader channel packages, with over 10 national news outlets now in the fold. Bloomberg TV, renowned for its global business and financial insights, complements the existing lineup, which already features CNBC and Fox Business, making it a standout choice for those tracking markets alongside breaking news. With no contract required and availability on popular streaming devices, this move underscores DIRECTV STREAM’s push to offer tailored, value-driven options—especially as cord-cutting grows and competitors like YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV hover at double the price for larger, less focused bundles.

Launched on February 27, 2025, MyEntertainment has been a standout in DIRECTV STREAM’s push toward flexible, skinny bundles, featuring heavy-hitters like A&E, Bravo, Discovery, E!, Food Network, FX, Freeform, FYI, HGTV, Lifetime, Oxygen, Syfy, The HISTORY Channel, TLC, and Vice TV. The package sweetens the deal with Disney+ and Hulu Basic included at no extra cost, and Max Basic with Ads is slated to join soon, broadening its appeal for viewers hooked on everything from reality TV showdowns to scripted sci-fi epics. ION TV’s arrival—previously added to DIRECTV STREAM’s base lineup in 2022—brings fan-favorite shows like NCIS, Law & Order, and Criminal Minds, aligning perfectly with the pack’s entertainment-first ethos.

At $34.99 monthly, MyEntertainment undercuts rivals like YouTube TV ($82.99/month for 100+ channels), Fubo ($84.99/month for 150+), and Hulu + Live TV ($82.99/month), which often bundle unwanted extras. The deal’s no-contract flexibility and access via the DIRECTV STREAM app—streamable on devices from Roku to smartphones—further cement its value, with an optional $9.99 MyCinema Mini Pack (LMN, TCM, etc.) for classic film buffs.

ION TV, joins a lineup that’s already resonating with viewers who want just entertainment channels without news or sports. With no word yet on additional channel expansions, DIRECTV STREAM’s recent additions to its new cheaper TV packages likely means we are going to see more in the future.

DIRECTV’s betting big on simplicity too. A June 2024 Hub Research report found 75% of consumers crave one platform to manage subscriptions—a need DIRECTV meets with a unified app experience across its offerings, from free MyFree DIRECTV to Signature packages. A MyHomeTeam Mini-Pack, targeting regional sports networks, is slated for MLB’s March 27 opening day, further refining its appeal. With cable’s average cost hitting $147 monthly in 2024 DIRECTV’s $34.99 entry point and no-satellite flexibility could lure the 10.73 million new U.S. households formed since 2017 (Census.gov), many of whom shun traditional bundles. This isn’t just a tweak—it’s a lifeline in a streaming-first world.
