DIRECTV STREAM Launches A Sports Only TV Package With 40 Channels & ESPN+ For $49.99 a Month For a Limited Time

DIRECTV STREAM today announced the launch of “MySports,” a sports-centric package designed to provide viewers with a more tailored and cost-effective way to access their favorite sports content. This new offering marks a significant shift towards genre-based television packages, addressing the growing demand for greater choice and flexibility in programming something DIRECTV has said they wanted to do for some time..

MySports offers a streamlined selection of 40 national and local sports channels, delivering a comprehensive sports viewing experience without the added cost of channels viewers may not watch. Initially available in 24 major metropolitan areas, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and San Francisco, DIRECTV STREAM plans to expand MySports to additional markets as more local stations are added. All of this for $49.99 a month for the first three months with ESPN+ included. After the first three months, the price jumps to $69.99 a month.

“The introduction of MySports from DIRECTV delivers consumers greater choice, flexibility, and control to select the type of content they want to watch at the right value,” said Bill Morrow, CEO of DIRECTV. “This is the first of several genre-based options we plan to launch over the coming months on our path towards a brighter TV future for consumers.”

Key features of MySports:

This new package is particularly timely for sports fans, coinciding with the NFL playoffs and college football season. To encourage adoption, DIRECTV is offering a five-day free trial and a promotional price of $49.99 per month for the first three months for those who sign up online before February 28th, 2025. The one downside is for now no CBS content.

This new service is very similar to the one that Disney, FOX, and Warner Bros. Discovery just killed. Venu Sports was to offer 16 channels for over $40 a month. Last week, they killed that service, just as now DIRECTV is launching a similar one.

With MySports, DIRECTV is not only enhancing the sports viewing experience but also paving the way for a more personalized and customizable television future something DIRECTV has said they wanted to do for some time. The company plans to introduce additional genre-based options, such as entertainment, kids & family, and more, in the coming months, providing viewers with greater control over their entertainment choices and budgets.
