DIRECTV STREAM is Removing A&E, Lifetime, History, & More From Some Packages Unless You Ask to Keep Them

A few weeks ago DIRECTV STREAM made some changes to its channel lineup on its cheap entertainment package. At the time new customers DIRECTV moved the channels A+E, History, Lifetime, and Vice to more expensive packages removing them from its entertainment package on DIRECTV STREAM. Now, though, DIRECTV STREAM is removing these channels from current subscribers unless we keep them.

Today DIRECTV has started to notify customers of its Entertainment package that unless they act before the deadline, they will lose access to A&E-owned networks, including History, Lifetime, and others. If you request to keep them for no extra charge, you will be able to keep them. If you don’t request to keep them the channels will leave your package in late April.

Update: A DIRECTV Spokesperson sent Cord Cutters News this statement about these changes. “This is part of an ongoing effort to simplify our packages and provide consistent lineups for new and existing satellite and streaming customers.  Any impacted customers have the alternative of keeping the channels simply by letting us know.”

If you are impacted by this DIRECTV has started to email its customers and is sending popup messages about the change on its app.

This change only affects new customers as it seems anyone with the channels already will get to keep them. This move helps DIRECTV STREAM cut costs by not having to pay royalties to the channels. To get these channels, you will now need a Choice package or higher to get the now missing channels.
