DIRECTV NOW’s DVR Will Come Out in Spring 2018

Channel Surfing ManIt looks like DIRECTV NOW’s DVR is getting closer and closer. So close that it may come out as soon as this week… (Yet likely it won’t…)

During the fourth quarter 2017 earnings call a few weeks ago it was announced that DIRECTV NOW’s new DVR and app will come out in spring 2018. We are now just a few days away from the official start of spring and it looks like DIRECTV NOW is getting ready for a launch of their new app.

Recently DIRECTV NOW added a new line to their billing statements for their DVR add-on. DIRECTV NOW also updated their website to promote 20 hours of storage included with your subscription. Lastly, early beta testers with 100 hours of DVR storage are seeing the 100 hours listed on their bill as a paid add-on right next to add-ons such as HBO.

And, for a short amount of time, Roku players showed this DIRECTV NOW splash screen when you launched the Roku Channel:

So what is all coming out in spring 2018?

DIRECTV NOW has announced three major rollouts all coming out at the same time. Of course, the DVR is likely to be the main attraction but that is just one part.
