DIRECTV NOW Will Soon Offer a Third Stream, If You Are Willing to Pay

Watching tv and using remote controlDuring AT&T’s fourth quarter 2017 earnings call we learned that they planned to add a third stream to their DIRECTV NOW streaming service. Now we can confirm some more details about what will be offered.

This week DIRECTV NOW updated their Roku Channel. Part of that update included a new splash screen that gave new details about the DIRECTV NOW DVR and third stream.

Here is the welcome screen now shown on Roku’s DIRECTV NOW Beta Channel:

A few things that are interesting from that wording on this post. Pay attention to how the DVR is just listed as included. That seems to confirm what we reported before about DIRECTV NOW coming with a free 20 hours of DVR and more if you are willing to pay.

While the DVR is just listed as included, the third stream is clearly marked as an option. From the wording of this screen the third stream will not be included as part of the standard DIRECTV NOW subscription.

The questions now are how much will the third stream cost and what will the extra DVR storage cost. Although many would want the third stream included with the price of the subscription, it seems that DIRECTV NOW wants to keep the price down by offering these new features at an extra fee.
