Details are still thin, but recently AT&T mistakenly put up the full DirecTVNow.com website instead of the placeholder. For that short time we learned a few things such as what devices will be supported and more about the local channels that will be available.
We have learned that both ABC and NBC will be available in some markets, but there is a catch. A leaked internal training manual from AT&T shows that some channels, such as NBC, will only work on mobile devices and computers, meaning you will likely not be able to access these channels on the Fire TV and other similar streaming players.
This move is confusing but going back to the original announcement about what we now know about DirecTV Now. Part of the original announcement of the service mentioned that there would be multiple packages, including a package just for mobile devices. It is rumored that these plans have changed but maybe it still includes some kind of mobile-only plan.
From the leaked manual it is possible some channels, such as NBC, will only be available in the mobile-only plan. Or it is possible it will be in all plans but just not work on streaming media players. We will have to wait until we learn more.
