DIRECTV NOW Removes DVR Details From Their Website

Watching tv and using remote controlA few weeks ago DIRECTV NOW updated their website with a new look. As best we can tell the new website went live on or about February 26th 2018. On the new website, it showed a side by side breakdown of their packages and how it stacked up against their competitors.

One of the most interesting detail was about the new DVR.  When you went to the new website you found this on their website:

Note: When you click on the “See details” button it told you that reducing your DVR subscription could mean the loss of recorded programming. This once again supports the idea that there will be 20 hours of free DVR with the ability to buy more storage.

Now though that has been replaced with details on their 72-hour rewind:

In recent days it has looked like AT&T was preparing for the launch of their DVR. Recently DIRECTV NOW added a new line to their billing statements for their DVR add-on. Yesterday DIRECTV NOW stopped accepting new beta testers. Roku beta testers woke up to this splash screen:

Lastly, early beta testers with 100 hours of DVR storage are seeing the 100 hours listed on their bill as a paid add-on right next to add-ons such as HBO. All of this had many thinking the DVR was likely coming out sooner rather than later.

Sadly though the removal of the DVR details from the DIRECTV NOW DVR websites puts some breaks on many who had hoped that the DVR would come out in days instead of weeks. For now, we will have to wait and see what happens next.
