DIRECTV NOW Reconfirms Plans For New DVR Add-ons

Teenager girl with remote control laying down and watching tv eating popcorn. For over a year now AT&T has talked about launching a DVR storage add-on. For the last few months, AT&T has been quiet about the new DVR add-ons, leaving many to wonder if they had changed their mind.

Now AT&T has reconfirmed plans to launch new DVR add-ons. During a talk at the 2019 Global TMT West Conference in Las Vegas, AT&T Chief Financial Officer John Stephens confirmed that AT&T plans to use the new DVR add-on to generate more revenue from DIRECTV NOW.

We still do not know when the new DVR add-on will launch, but we have some leaks that hint at how the new add-ons will work. According to reports, DIRECTV NOW plans to keep their 20 hours as a baseline for all subscribers. From there you can add 30 hours to get 50 hours of storage or 100 hours to get 120 hours of storage. The add-ons will start at $5. Some have reported the 100 hours of extra storage will cost $10 a month, but as of today that has not been verified.
