DIRECTV NOW is Giving $75 Credits to 1st Gen Fire TV & Fire Stick Owners

Back in April DIRECTV NOW suddenly dropped support for 1st gen Fire TV and Fire Stick with no warning. When 1st gen Fire TV and Fire Stick owners opened their DIRECTV NOW app, they found a message notifying them that they needed to update their app. Sadly when they tried to update the app, they found there was no new update.

AT&T quickly confirmed via Twitter that DIRECTV NOW had ended support for the 1st gen Fire TV and Fire Stick. A very strange move considering how the 1st gen Fire TV is far more powerful than the 3rd gen Fire TV.

Now AT&T is reaching out to DIRECTV NOW users who found that they can no longer stream DIRECTV NOW on their Fire TV. AT&T is offering subscribers who used a 1st Gen Fire TV or 1st gen Fire TV Stick $75 to buy a new Fire TV.

Update: A few readers have said anyone grandfathered on the $35 Go Big plan cannot get this deal. Make sure to carefully read the terms before accepting.

How the deal works:

AT&T is offering $25 bill credits for the next three months totaling $75. AT&T says this is meant to cover the cost of a new streaming player. It could be a new Fire TV, or you can put that money towards any streaming player you want.

To know if you are getting this deal you need to check our email. Emails on this went out last night to DIRECTV NOW subscribers who used a 1st gen Fire TV or Fire Stick.
