This weekend Cord Cutters News confirmed that our local Dallas CBS affiliate upgraded their stream to 1080p 60 fps on the DIRECTV NOW beta app. Not all CBS locals are at 60 fps. Several readers are still seeing it at 720p 30 fps.
So what is fps? Frames per second (fps) tells you how many times the image on your screen is refreshed every second. The more frames, the smoother the image looks. For a scripted drama, 30 fps will look great; however, for faster action such as sports, many want 60 fps so the action looks smooth on the screen.
Cord Cutters News is reaching out to AT&T for an updated list of supported 60 fps channels and a list of supported devices. Hopefully, we can get a full list of new 60 fps channels now streaming on DIRECTV NOW.
