DIRECTV NOW Ends All Beta Testing

Watching tv and using remote controlDo you still have a DIRECTV NOW beta app installed? It may be time to remove the app as AT&T is ending support for the beta and shutting down the apps.

This week AT&T started to remove people from their Apple beta programs. Many readers said they recived a message notifying them that they have been removed from the beta program. No worries it wasn’t just you but the DIRECTV NOW beta itself has ended.  Others are reporting some beta apps on non-Apple devices no longer work. For now, it seems like AT&T has decided not to continue to use their beta program to test any new releases.

This all comes at a time that DIRECTV NOW 2.0, users are still facing increased buffering and widespread outages. So far, AT&T has not commented on the cause of the outages, leaving subscribers wondering.

Outages and issues with a major rollout like DIRECTV NOW 2.0 are not unusual. What subscribers seem to be struggling with is the lack of communication from AT&T, leaving them to wonder if they should wait or jump ship to a competitor service.

For now, AT&T has decided that testing to address the issues will happen in house and not through a beta program. AT&T has recently been rolling out small updates here and there to address the growing number of complaints.
