DirecTV NOW Claims to Have Fixed an “Issue” That Blacked Out NFL Games

Last weekend DirecTV NOW subscribers were shocked to find that not only NFL games but also the pre-game and post-game shows had been blacked out. If you lived in an area that has local FOX channels on DirecTV you likely saw a message saying that even pre- and post-game coverage of the NFL was blacked out.

Now on Tuesday DirecTV NOW has finally started to comment on what happened.

“On Sunday, we experienced an issue where some DIRECTV NOW customers were unable to stream portions of the football games on their respective local Fox channel,” AT&T said in a statement released today to TVPredictions.com. “We’ve identified the issue and are confident that customers will be able to stream next Sunday’s games in available markets where league blackout restrictions don’t apply.”

We do now know what the issue is but this is just one of many recent sports-related hiccups for DirecTV NOW. About the same time NFL games ended up being blacked there also seems to be some type of “technical issue” that has resulted in Comcast SportsNet being removed from DirecTV Now.

There has been no official statement as to why Comcast SportsNet channels are being removed, and customer service is just saying there is some kind of technical issue; however, several days later the channel is still missing for most subscribers at the time of this writing.
