DIRECTV NOW Changes Over to AT&T Logins & Adds More Local Affiliates

Yesterday just before the outage that took down DIRECTV NOW for about 3 hours a few big changes happened.

New Logins

First DIRECTV NOW switched from the login screen you know and love to the AT&T login screen. It looks like AT&T has finished their move over to AT&T Access IDs. According to the updated DIRECTV NOW login help page, all accounts created on or after March 12th2018 now have an AT&T Access ID. From the looks of the help page, older accounts will still have DIRECTV NOW account ID’s, but newer DIRECTV NOW accounts are now all AT&T Access account ID’s. Now it seems that all DIRECTV NOW accounts have been merged into AT&T Access accounts.

After my last post on this topic, a few readers asked why DIRECTV customers can’t use DIRECTV NOW, and why DIRECTV NOW customers can’t use AT&T apps and such if they are merged. For a short explanation, just because the apps are the same does not mean you will get access to content that you do not pay for. The accounts may have the same login page but you still only get access to what you pay for.

New Locals

The second big change was the addition of new locals. So far we can confirm CBS 6 in Albany was added last night. We can also confirm that Wave 3 NBC in Louisville, KY was added last night. We are not sure how many more have been added but WAVE is a Raycom Media station and WRGB 6 is a Sinclair Broadcast Group station. Hopefully, this means more Raycom and Sinclair affiliates are on the way to DIRECTV NOW.

Update: We can add CBS in Salt Lake City to the list.
