DIRECTV NOW Announces Plans to Add 50 New CBS & The CW Markets

Last week DIRECTV NOW started to add CBS and The CW to 25 markets around the United States. Now it looks like that was just the start.

Today according to FierceCable AT&T plans to add 50 more CBS and The CW affiliates around the United States. This will bring the total number of markets that include CBS or The CW to 75.

“DirecTV Now has great momentum as we continue to bring our customers the content they want, on their terms,” said Eric Boyer, senior VP of product marketing for the AT&T Entertainment Group. “More people choose DirecTV Now each day and our new offerings only make that decision even easier.”

In total DIRECTV NOW offers locals in 155 markets around the United States and includes deals with ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, MyTV, and The CW. DIRECTV NOW also just added Showtime as an $8 a month add-on making DIRECTV NOW the cheapest way to get Showtime.

We do not know all the affiliates DIRECTV NOW will add but it has been reported that Sinclair and AT&T have a deal to add Sinclair owned CBS affiliates to DIRECTV NOW. That would include KGAN-TV, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; KGBT-TV in Harlingen, Texas, and WGME-TV in Portland, Me., plus WTVH-TV in Syracuse. AT&T has also not stated when these new markets will be added.
