DIRECTV NOW Adds NBC to The Fire TV

When DIRECTV NOW launched it made it very clear that NBC would only be available on phones and tablets. If you wanted to watch NBC on your TV you would still need an antenna.

Yet this week AT&T updated the Fire TV and Fire Stick’s DIRECTV NOW app. Suddenly subscribers to DIRECTV NOW who live in an area that has NBC can now access it through their streaming media stick.

We are not sure if this is an accident or marks a change in how AT&T is handling NBC. The Fire Stick and Fire TV seem to be the only streaming media players with access because the Apple TV still does not have NBC.

It has always seemed like a strange move for DIRECTV NOW to have NBC but not on your streaming media player when other services such as Sling TV have not only had it but had it on a wide range of streaming media players.

If you happen to see the NBC local channels showing up on a Fire TV or Apple TV please let us know. At the time of this post we have not heard any reports of it being available on the Apple TV.
