DIRECTV NOW Adds More Local Channels

It seems AT&T was busy overnight adding new local channels.

This morning Cord Cutters news has received word that many DIRECTV NOW subscribers woke up to find their local FOX Network added to DIRECTV NOW. AT&T has not made any public announcement about the addition, but AT&T has rarely commented on channel lineup changes.

FOX has over 400 affiliate stations covering 97% of Americans with over the air TV. Yet that still leaves millions without access to FOX for free. Launched on October 9, 1986 as a competitor to the Big Three television networks NBC, ABC, and CBS, Fox went on to become the first successful attempt at a fourth television network. It was the highest-rated broadcast network in the 18–49 demographic from 2004 to 2012, and earned the position as the most-watched American television network in total viewership during the 2007–08 season.

We can confirm that FOX was added in ST. Louis MO, Cleveland OH, Milwaukee WI, Salt Lake City UT, Grand Rapids MI, Indianapolis IN, Sacramento CA, and Kansas City MO on DIRECTV NOW. If you found your local FOX affiliate added recently please leave us a comment and let us know what market you are in.

We have reached out to AT&T for comment and will update this story when we learn more.
