Recently we heard that the preseason price had a jump from $257.94 to $281.94 if you paid early. If you want the “Max” package from DIRECTV NOW get ready to pay $377.94.
It seems AT&T is trying to get what it can from the NFL Sunday Ticket before the bottom falls out.
Now there has been talk of a streaming option available to everyone. (Yes, we know you can get a streaming option if you prove that you live in an area that can’t get DIRECTV.) AT&T has been sending out surveys for some time asking if current and former subscribers would be interested in a subscription option for streaming only.
The NFL and live sports overall have long been one of the main reasons Americans are willing to pay for live TV. Now that HBO, Showtime, and others have offered a standalone option for cord cutters, sports is one of the last big attractions that services such as DIRECTV offer.
AT&T has been looking at other options to reach cord cutters. Recently it launched its DIRECTV NOW service to cord cutters; however, it didn’t include the NFL package many had hoped for. Hopefully someday cord cutters will also get access to the NFL Sunday Ticket. But at $377.94 a season it makes you wonder what it would charge for the service if you just had it as a streaming option.
