DIRECTV Is Losing a Top Executive as He Leaves AT&T

AT&T has recently seen a growing number of executives leave the company after recent purchases like Time Warner and DIRECTV. Now one of DIRECTV’s longest and highest ranking executives, Dan York, is leaving AT&T after two decades.

York has served as vice president and chief content officer for DIRECTV since 2012. York was responsible for striking DIRECTV’s original NFL Sunday Ticket deal.

“We appreciate Dan’s many years of service. His contributions significantly shaped our content strategies, and we are grateful for his leadership and commitment to providing our customers with their favorite live sports and entertainment,” Thaddeus Arroyo, chief executive of AT&T’s consumer and communications unit, said in a statement.

York was also responsible for the Audience Network, which is being shut down and turned into a promotional channel for HBO Max.

Rob Thun, senior vice president of content and programming is expected to replace York, according to the Los Angeles Times.
