DIRECTV Brings CuriosityStream to Its Paid and Free Services

CuriosityStream has announced a new deal with DIRECTV that will expand the reach of its nonfiction content.

CuriosityStream is the streaming home of science, technology, and history content, with thousands of titles including originals. Explore your favorite topics, learn about new subjects, and indulge your inner geek with thousands of original and specially selected series, specials, and shorts. In the content library, you’ll find titles about everything from dinosaurs to space travel.

With the deal, DIRECTV is offering CuriosityStream content to subscribers in two ways. Those with a paid DIRECTV subscription can sign up for CuriosityStream as an add-on for $5 per month. Curiosity NOW is Curiosity’s free ad-supported streaming channel, which will now be available on MyFree DIRECTV. Both options give viewers access to factual programming from history and adventure to science and technology.

“This is a pivotal moment for Curiosity as we expand our U.S. reach across FAST and SVOD in one comprehensive agreement,” said Jay Sodha, Curiosity’s VP of Business Development and Partnerships. “DIRECTV’s scale, brand strength, and evolving platform strategy makes it the perfect partner to help us deliver smart, inspiring, and entertaining content to viewers wherever they are and however they choose to watch.”
