DAZN & The English Premier League Team Up For a New Canadian Streaming Deal

Fans of soccer watching matchAccording to reports, DAZN, the Netflix of sports, has acquired the rights to stream the English Premier League in Canada. The English Premiere League will join NFL Sunday Ticket and UEFA Champions League rights that DAZN acquired last year.

According to reports, DAZN will have streaming rights in Canada to the English Premiere League for the next three years.

DAZN wants to build a service that gives subscribers unlimited access to a wide range of sports. Currently, DAZN costs $20 Canadian a month (about $15 a month US) to access all the content.

Other companies have taken notice. ESPN launched ESPN+ and, in Canada, TSN is looking to offer their own streaming service for cord cutters who want sports without cable TV.

For now, we are far from the day when most sports can be viewed through a service like DAZN without a cable TV package. Yet slowly services like ESPN+ and DAZN are moving in that direction.

ESPN+ has recently added partnerships with PGA, college sports, and more to expand their lineup. Although this is far from the dream, we are moving to a world of sports no longer requiring a cable TV subscription.
