Updated: CW Network’s FREE Streaming Service Will Be Here Soon

CWIt was recently announced that the CW Network will be leaving Hulu, but there is good news for fans of the network. The CEO of the CW Network recently announced that a CW app is coming to Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, and Fire TV. You will also be able to access CW shows the next day even if you do not pay for cable.

The new streaming service is expected to hit streaming devices before the start of the CW fall season in October. Word from sources familiar with the new app say it should come out late September 2016.

Update: We can confirm that the CW app will come out next week sometime after September 26th but before October 1st.

This new app is perfect for anyone who does not get the CW Network free over the air or misses an episode. The best part of this new streaming service is the fact that it will be 100% free for cord cutters: no network login needed.

The service will be similar to the CW app that is already on iOS and Android with the same limitations.

This move to online streaming for the CW Network could be in response to a 13 percent decline in primetime viewership. With the CW Network being aimed at a younger audience, CBS and Time Warner are hoping an online streaming option on popular streaming devices will bring in more viewers.

Hopefully the new CW app will be an example for other networks to learn from.
