CuriosityStream Doubles Down on Original Content

CuriosityStream, the subscription streaming service from the founder of the Discovery Channel, is doubling down on original content.

On April 20 CuriosityStream will launch a new film called Miniverse featuring former International Space Station Commander Colonel Chris Hadfield. The film will take viewers on a 4K journey through our solar system scaled down into a 3,000-mile trip from New York to California.

Space travel is both exhilarating and terrifying, but the reality is that most people can’t even begin to imagine what it’s like because it’s just so abstract, so out of reach, Hadfield said. This film makes space relatable, accessible even, and my hope is that it will reinvigorate interest in space exploration for viewers of all ages. Plus, it’s just such a fun concept. I’m so thrilled to be a part of this unique cosmic journey.

Between the gorgeous imagery, insightful science and the extremely entertaining and down-to-earth banter between some of the most brilliant individuals of our time, viewers are in for such a treat with this film, said Noah Morowitz, executive producer for CuriosityStream. You’ve never seen space quite like this before, and you won’t want to miss it.

As streaming continue to grow we continue to see more and more shows not going to cable but coming directly to cord cutters. Hopefully this trend continues and more services like CuriosityStream double down on original content.

CuriosityStream starts at $2.99 a month and includes over 1,500 shows about a wide range of subjects.
