Crunchyroll & VRV Are Now A Part of AT&T’s WarnerMedia

Today it was announced that AT&T is combining Otter Media into WarnerMedia. Now Otter Media who owns several streaming services including Crunchyroll and VRV will now report to WarnerMedia executives right alongside network executives from TBS, TNT, TruTV, and more. With this change, Otter CEO Tony Gonvalves will now lead production and development of WarnerMedia’s new direct-to-consumer service launching later this year.

“As we continue to build out our new streaming business and realign WarnerMedia functions, this step will facilitate further scale and focus in our efforts to offer customers an engaging and compelling product experience,” WarnerMedia CEO John Stankey said. “I’m confident that with Tony and Andy leading our product and operations, Kevin and HBO’s Casey Bloys guiding our content strategy, and with Bob at the helm, we have a formidable team creating a curated streaming service with a winning combination of content and features. I also want to thank Brad for his leadership in bringing the project to this point in record time.”

Otter Media is a group of popular streaming services including Crunchyroll, VRV, FullScreen, Rooster Teeth, and more. Otter Media will become part of AT&T’s WarnerMedia unit that was created after the AT&T Time Warner merger. This comes as The Chernin Group sold their controlling interest in Otter Media to AT&T.

This comes as AT&T has been slowly combining management inside WarnerMedia. Earlier this week we learned that TruTV was laying off many of its staff and replacing them with WarnerMedia staff. From the sounds of it, AT&T is just getting started with its realignment.
