Crackle is Changing Their Name to “Sony Crackle” & Adding More Original Shows

Father curled up on the sofa with his two daughters. They are watching a movie with popcorn.Yesterday at the Television Critics Association (TCA) Sony had several announcements about their free streaming service Crackle.

According to reports from B&C, Sony plans to change Crackles name to Sony Crackle sometime in the Spring of 2018. The announcement was made by Eric Berger, Sony Pictures Television Network Executive CP. “Our goal is to lean in on the power of what Sony stands for,” he said.

Sony went on to announce in a statement sent to Cord Cutters News that Crackle will partner with award-winning producers Douglas Urbanski and Gary Oldman of Flying Studio Pictures on the original drama, “The Butcher.”  According to Sony “The Butcher” is a modern story of one man’s epic investigation to find, hunt down, and kill a serial killer who lives among us — someone who is very human, but also beyond human.

Sony also announced that production is underway in Puerto Rico for season three of the 10-episode original drama series StartUp.” In season one of “StartUp” centered on the world of cryptocurrency. In season two, the focus was on the cost of ambition and we watched as our three unexpected comrades crossed the line in order to get back what was taken from them.
