If you live in one of these markets there are currently no options for unlimited data. If you go over the 1TB cap, you will have to pay $10 for every 50 Gigabytes of data you go over.
It seems like Cox has a plan to still offer an unlimited option for subscribers as long as you are willing to pay. According to Multi Channel News, Cox is in the process of preparing an unlimited data option for a little more money every month.
We do not know what Cox plans to charge, but Comcast already does something similar for $50 a month. When Comcast rolled out its new 1TB data cap, it also offered a $50 a month option for unlimited data.
According to Cox, 98% of its Internet subscribers do not come close to the 1TB cap; however, that still leaves a lot of subscribers who are looking at high bills by going over their caps. Cox did announce that it will send alerts via browsers, email, text messages, or an automated outbound call when customers have used 85% and 100% of their monthly data plan and again if they reach 125% of their monthly data plan.
For now we will have to wait to learn more about this new fee. When we do, we will update this post.
