Costco is Considering Launching a On-Demand Streaming Service

Are you a Costco member? Well soon streaming may be one of the perks you get along with low prices on toilet paper. According to The-Information.com Costco is looking at launching an on-demand streaming service that would be free to anyone with a Costco membership. (Though some are reporting you will need an “executive” membership to get the free streaming service.)

Details are very thin, but reports are that Costco is doing research right now into what it would take to launch the service. This is likely an attempt to fight off Amazon’s growing market share into what has traditionally been Costco’s core customers. Being able to offer a streaming option with their membership will be just one more reason to keep a Costco membership past just getting access to the stores.

This is not new for Costco as they have for some time offered deals like discounts at many car rental services. It is very possible that Costco just offers a discount on a service like Hulu similar to what Sprint is doing right now.

As streaming becomes cheaper look for more services to try and bundle streaming as a way to stand out from their competitors.
