Cord Cutting Is Saving Americans $5.5 Billion This Year

Have you ever wondered how much money is really being saved by cord cutting? The Wall Street Journal says that cord cutting saves the average American over $100 a month, but how much does it save everyone?

According to a new study from cg42, the total cost of cord cutting to the pay-TV industry will be $5.5 billion in 2018. That $5.5 billion number must be keeping executives at both studios and cable TV up at night.

Now how much of that is going to different streaming services is hard to say. What we do know is according to this study the pay-TV industry will make $5.5 billion less this year.

This all comes as cord cutting is speeding up and growing. The question now is when will the pay-TV industry make major changes to address the decline in their revenues.
