Amazon Studios has confirmed that Coming 2 America, the sequel to Coming to Amerca from Paramount Pictures, will be coming to Amazon Prime Video on March 5, 2021.
The film is a sequel to the 1988 comedy starring Eddie Murphy as Crown Prince Akeem who travels to Queens, New York in search of an independent woman to make his wife. The sequel takes place 30 years later as Prince Akeem, set to become king, discovers that he has a long lost son in Queens. The Prince returns to America to groom his son to become the next prince.
“Coming to America was a cultural phenomenon that is one of the most loved and celebrated comedies of all time,” Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, said in a statement. “Thanks to Eddie Murphy’s comedic genius along with the brilliant filmmakers, writers and fabulous cast, we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this new adventure. We know audiences around the world will fall in love with this hilarious, joyful movie that will surely become a timeless favorite.”

Along with Murphy, returning cast favorites from Coming to America include James Earl Jones, Shari Headley, John Amos, and the barbershop crew.
