Comcast’s NBC Peacock Streaming Service Will Be Heavily Ad Supported

Today during the company’s earnings call Comcast said that they plan to have Peacock be heavily supported by ads. Comcast said they don’t want to chase after Netflix and they think being ad-supported will help them stand out.

Peacock will also be heavily featured on Comcast’s new streaming player, the Flex. Exactly what that means is unknown but it sounds like Comcast is planning to heavily push the service to Comcast internet and TV customers.

Comcast executives went on to say they’re keeping many of the details about the new Peacock service a secret until a month or two before launch to prevent competitors from learning their plan.

Peacock, the ad and subscription-supported streaming service, will launch in April 2020. Pricing details will be announced later, but we know that the content library will include The Office and Parks and Rec, two of the most-watched streaming series.

This is the Peacock content NBC has announced today:

TIMELESS TITLES

The content library will feature some of the most popular NBC and classic TV series of all time, including:

Peacock will also offer a robust slate of critically-acclaimed films and box-office hits from Universal Pictures and Focus Features.
